Bank Weirdness
Back in June, Christine and I went to Barcelona for a long weekend. While we were there, I discovered I didn’t have my ATM card in my wallet. The last place I remembered using it was at a restaurant in Brussels the week before. We called the bank and had it canceled until we got back to Belgium and could take care of it.
We get back home that Sunday night and as I’m cleaning the receipts and stuff out of my wallet, I find the card. Christine had used it and put it back in a place that I wouldn’t put it and it had gotten obscured by some junk in my wallet. Crisis averted, we called the bank and had the card reactivated.
Until Monday evening. I went grocery shopping and when I went to pay, the machine told me to contact the bank. I had cash on me so it wasn’t a big deal and I figured that maybe my paycheck hadn’t cleared. The next night, I was getting gas and the card was declined again, but this time, so was my Visa (that turned out to be a mistyped PIN). So I get over to the bank this morning and they tell me that the card was canceled because it was reported lost. In June. So why did it work for 5 months afterwards? Fortunately, the bank was able to give me a replacement on the spot this morning.
